Descriptio Brevis:

Tubi Chalybis Inoxidabilis 904L. UNS N08904, vulgo 904L appellatus, est chalybs inoxidabilis austeniticus, humilis carbonis contentus, et altae mixturae, quod late adhibetur in applicationibus ubi proprietates corrosionis AISI 316L et AISI 317L non sufficiunt. Hic chalybs austeniticus altae mixturae valde resistit impetui ab acido sulphurico diluto, acido phosphorico et acido acetico. Resistit corrosionis sub tensione (pitting) in solutionibus chloridi neutralibus. Resistentia eius corrosionis sub tensione (stress) in quibusdam chloridis calidis multo superior est resistentia austenitarum niccoli inferiorum. Hic chalybs bonam formabilitatem et sudabilitatem habet. Haec materia in omnibus normis communibus, ut ASTM et EN, praesens est, sed cum quibusdam differentiis. Tensiones designatae usque ad 370°C in ASME II includuntur.
